This data protection statement is intended to explain to you, as a client and user of our website (referred to as the “User”), the manner and purposes for which and the extent to which we, www.steyr-mannlicher.com (referred to as the “Supplier”), as data controller, will collect and use data.

Collection of access data

The Supplier collects data concerning each visit to its online services (so-called server log files). The access data includes the name of the website accessed, the data file accessed and the date and time of access, the quantity of data transferred, notification of successful retrieval, browser type and version, the User’s operating system, the referrer URL (the page previously visited), the User’s IP address and the requesting service provider. In accordance with the statutory requirements, the Supplier uses the protocol data only for statistical evaluations for the purposes of its business, for security and to optimise its online services, without correlating it to the identity of the User or otherwise creating a user profile.

Collection and use of personal data

The Supplier collects and uses personal data only if this is permitted by law or the users consent to it being collected.  The User can usually see when using the service which data is being stored. When the User makes contact with the Supplier (e.g. by email), the User’s information is stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry. Personal data provided for the purpose of ordering goods (such as name, email address and postal address) is used by the seller for the purpose of carrying out and processing the contract. This data is treated in confidence, encrypted for the purpose of transmission and is not communicated to third parties which are not involved in the ordering, delivery and payment process. The Supplier will store the personal data collected by it only as long as necessary for the applicable purpose and will then delete the data without delay unless this is prohibited by legal retention obligations. If legal retention obligations apply, the Supplier will delete the data without delay on the expiry of the prescribed periods. The Supplier has implemented organisational, contractual and technical security measures in order to ensure that the terms of the Datenschutzgesetze [Data Protection Acts] are complied with and to prevent accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons.

Communication of data to third parties

The User’s data will be communicated to third parties only if this is permitted by law or a User has consented to the communication. This will be the case, for example, if the communication of the data serves the purposes of fulfilling contractual obligations owed to the User and, for example, the User’s postal address is communicated to a delivery firm when an order has been placed, or if the data is requested by responsible bodies such as prosecution authorities. The User’s personal data will never be sold or communicated to third parties for advertising purposes or in order to create user profiles.

Cookies

The Supplier uses “cookies” for the purposes of its online business. Cookies are small data files which are installed on the User’s computer and can store information for providers. Temporary cookies are deleted when the browser is closed; permanent cookies are retained for a prescribed period and can provide access to the stored information when the online service is accessed again. Cookies are used, for example, to facilitate the use of the service. The User can influence how cookies are used.  Most browsers have an option to restrict or completely prevent the storage of cookies. The Supplier will try to configure its online services in such a way that the use of cookies is not necessary. However, please note that use of the website, and particularly ease of use, is restricted without cookies.

Email Newsletter

This website operates an email newsletter program, used to inform subscribers about products and services supplied by this website. Users can subscribe through an online automated process should they wish to do so but do so at their own discretion. Some subscriptions may be manually processed through prior written agreement with the user.

No personal details are passed on to third parties nor shared with companies / people outside of the company that operates this website.

Email marketing campaigns published by this website or its owners may contain tracking facilities within the actual email. Subscriber activity is tracked and stored in a database for future analysis and evaluation. Such tracked activity may include; the opening of emails, forwarding of emails, the clicking of links within the email content, times, dates and frequency of activity [this is by no far a comprehensive list].
This information is used to refine future email campaigns and supply the user with more relevant content based around their activity.

Communication, engagement and actions taken through external social media platforms that this website and its owners participate on are custom to the terms and conditions as well as the privacy policies held with each social media platform respectively.

Users are advised to use social media platforms wisely and communicate / engage upon them with due care and caution in regard to their own privacy and personal details. This website nor its owners will ever ask for personal or sensitive information through social media platforms and encourage users wishing to discuss sensitive details to contact them through primary communication channels such as by telephone or email.
