150 years of STEYR MANNLICHER
2014 STEYR MANNLICHER celebrates its 150th birthday. Basen on a centuries old tradition in producing weapons, the gunsmith Josef Werndl founded the “Josef & Franz Werndl & Company, Waffenfabrik und Sägemühle in Oberletten” in 1864, which should become the “Österreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft – ŒWG” and later the “Steyr-Daimler-Puch A.G.”.
In the years since then a lot of different rifles have been produced to become “icons” of the weapons industry – such as the “Original Mannlicher-Schönauer”, the “SSG 69” or the “StG 77”, also known as “STEYR AUG“.
